STEP BY STEP - (MAKING A COLOUR REDUCTION WOODCUT PRINT): 'Truth and Reconciliation' 2016, 33cm x 45cm ed. 12x printed on 105gsm Hahnemuhle

STEP 1:  Preliminary pencil drawing

 STEP 2:  Drawing is copied in pen and ink onto the woodblock and cut

STEP 3:  Image cut and ready for printing

STEP 4: Ink prepared

STEP 5: Design for the second woodblock cut

STEP 6:  Printing made from second woodblock

STEP 7:  Image from the first woodblock is printed 

STEP 8:  Image of the first woodblock is completely cut away.  Only the border for each segment remains

STEP 9:  Final printing.  Border is printed

STEP 10:  Edition is printed by hand using a burnishing technique and left to dry

STEP 11:  Line between the mouth is carefully inked-in by hand on each print
