some exercise, crisp winter air and as a bonus...subject for a new work!

FORGET-ME-NOT Exhibition @ the GFI Gallery in collaboration with the Eastern Cape Region of Alzheimer's South Africa NPC, 22 September 2018 - 13 October 2018


Dementia focused exhibition

An exhibition titled Forget-me-not, curated in response to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, will open at the GFI Art Gallery in Park Drive, Central, on Saturday at 10am.
The exhibition is a collaboration between the gallery at 30 Park Drive and the Eastern Cape branch of non-profit organisation Alzheimer’s South Africa.Artists were invited to submit works responding to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease for the exhibition, which will provide the organisation with an opportunity to raise funds through the sale of the works.
Participating artists include the likes of Jennifer Ord, Bretten-Anne Moolman, Ruth Nesbit, Graham Jones, Llise Dodd, Michael Barry, Alan Grobler, Jade Staples, Trevor Melville and Jeff Rankin, whose work is pictured here. Forget-me-not opens at 10am and the opening address will be by psychiatrist Dr Reino Verster and clinical psychologist Mark Eaton.
The gallery’s Hayley Grinstead said two talks would also be hosted in October to tie in with the exhibition. The first, on Saturday October 6 at 10am, is by Dr Leandre Gauche, a psychiatrist in private practice and previously the head of a state psychiatric hospital, who will answer questions on dementia. The second talk, on October 13 at 10am, will see Reverend Roxane Jordaan discuss “all a family/carer needs in their toolbox to cope with the caring of a dementia patient”.
An entrance fee of R20 will be asked for the talks, and tea and coffee will be served.
The exhibition itself will run until October 13.

An exhibition of Fine Art responding to Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease


GFI ART GALLERY in collaboration with the EASTERN CAPE REGION of ALZHEIMER'S SOUTH AFRICA NPC invited artists to submit works responding to Dementia & Alzheimer's disease. 

The exhibition provides the non-profit with an opportunity to raise funds and a portion of the proceeds will go to this great cause.
