"I produced these two works in shock response to the recent bizarre & senseless onslaught of vandalism on 2x national heritage works of art - a work @ London's National Gallery & a work & another @ the Barberini Museum in Potsdam, Germany!"

Artist's Statement

Monotypes, 2020, on 80gsm Mondi Rotatrim 42cm x 29.7cm

Abstract Compositions in monotype are the results of a recent shift in image making, from representational towards abstraction. While colour and texture are a dominant feature, form is suggested within an area of abstract space. I focused on expressing inner emotional and spiritual feelings, instead of creating immediate, recognizable imagery.
Each work was created through an element of chance as well as automatic responses to the medium's versatility during the experimental, creative process. Aim of the works are to create an audience of imaginative dialogue as well as to encourage visual literacy through an element of paradoia. The works became a subconscious experience – a personal journey of the imagination.

Many of the works remained single impressions, while others developed into a series of varied impressions, through a process of re-worked colour from the first image. The works were created by applying colour lithographic ink to a glass sheet and then transfering the created image to a uniform sized, acid free paper. Each work is mounted on board using archival, acid free adhesive and are signed, and dated on the lower right hand corner.
